Results from eHI’s 2013 Data Exchange Survey are in and they paint a diverse, but ultimately encouraging picture of the road ahead in state healthcare technology implementation and data sharing. 199 of the 315 data exchange initiatives identified by eHI responded to the survey, allowing for a robust, well-constellated picture of various data sharing efforts across the US.
Although there is currently not a single dominant model for data exchange, the survey reported that 125 organizations use a query-based model, 124 use secure e-messaging, 111 utilize end-to-end integration, and 84 of those responding make use of a combination of models.
